A Fresh Start

Doug and I have been through a lot in the seven years that Southern Songbird Farm has been in existence. We've given up growing vegetables and stuck with raising protein, we've changed from longer rotational intervals to shorter ones, we've given up ducks and geese and added turkeys and pigs, and we've done it all with as much flexibility and grace as we can muster. We've been through the highs of record market days, and the lows of losing a beloved animal. We've had years of record yields and epic loss. Most recently we went through the aftermath of the EF-1 tornado that twisted its eleven mile destructive path through Bourbon and Clark Counties. Through it all, we've relied on each other and the steadfast belief that we are called to steward this land and feed our community.

We've attempted to lighten our load several times over the last 2-3 years by hiring out things like website design/maintenance, our online storefront, and social media. We've recently decided to take back the reins, and we thank you in advance for your patience as I, with my registered nurse background-not computers, attempt to once again provide a serviceable web experience for you, our loyal customers! I'm sure there will be some hiccups, but we are so excited to fulfill your orders once again. Please, please reach out if you have any issues. I want to fix them promptly!

That said, we have an important meeting in the morning that well may determine the future trajectory of the farm. We look forward to sharing those plans with you here in this space.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your continued support!
